The Comic Series

Can I make It

where are you

Captures the daily routine of Nepal. It has become a Nepali habit, almost second nature, to be indifferent to what is happening in country. We live with the assumption of fated certainties and blindly accept it. Scarcity, indifference, death and violence, migration are some of the recurring themes in this series. The paintings are stylized in the form of comics to steer the viewer thought these issues. However, the dialogue boxes are left empty so that the viewers themselves can interject their own thoughts into these spaces.

In Lathalinga (Chaos)

There is no central character. Several events unfold around different characters in the same painting. The fact that I have mixed all these concerns in one painting represents the chaotic nature of living in Kathmandu. These are real life situations which one encounters each day on the streets of the city. Quintessentially, these painting portray a day in the life of an individual in the city.

The Women

I have highlighted the issue of the ongoing crimes against women. These atrocities are reported on the news and seen in the media. It tells of a grim story- women have become ‘game’ and are victimized on all fronts. In this culture of violence, the issues of protection and rights of women in Nepal seem elusive.
